OK, I figured I outta introduce myself since I am gonna jump in and start posting!

I've always been rather plump- now that I'm in my 40's and my kids are getting ready to leave home it's time to concentrate on me. I started walking on April 23rd and I thought I was doing pretty good- turns out I was actually lazy AF. SO, I started ramping things up on May 15th when I found a new walking partner. As of that day I have gotten a minimum of 10,000 steps daily. After seeing no results I started tracking my calories- holy cow, my snacking calories were out of control. I started tracking calories on MFP 5/29. I stick to my 1500 calories a day unless I earn more (dunno if I should be using the extra earned calories, and I don't always- but complete denial of all yummy stuff makes me stabby.)

I am not following any particular diet- just eat less move more. I won't stick with any fad diet, any change I make has to be something I can live with for the rest of forever. Sometimes that means I have a real soda (diet tastes horrid to me) and sometimes I will have cake. Sometimes I'll eat an entire package of green beans.

Loss has been slow- under two pounds a week: must remember I didn't wake up fat one day, won't wake up skinny one day.

At the moment, for the summer, I walk an hour, do water aerobics for an hour and 2-4 days a week I walk a second time for an hour in the evening when my son is doing Cross Fit (no, I am too chicken to go there.)

5'1"
193 lbs (two more days til my next weigh in)
a hair over 40 years old
goal: 140

Looking forward to being part of this community!

Welcome! You are so realistic, it's refreshing! The diet fads annoy me, the success is in eating less in general, smaller portions and making healthier decisions. Plus of course exercise of some kind, any activity is good activity! People are in such a rush to build this gorgeous, healthy physique and that just isn't how it works. Best of luck to you!
