Cant put on weight!

I am 19 years old and 6'5" 180 pounds and it seems no matter how much I really eat I cant put on any weight! I will eat 4000-5000 calories a day and then do heavy weightlifting to bulk up yet I cant seem to put any extra weight on.
The weights are helping my muscle show, I am 6% body fat and have wide shoulders and muscles but I am just skinnier than I would like.
Any suggestions on how to slow this metabolism or help me to improve my weight ganing?

Then you need to eat more than 5000 calories. I had to eat 4000 calories to put on weight at 19 at 5'7". That's 8" shorter than you. I'd shoot for 6000 calories and see what happens. Eat a large pizza by yourself for lunch and breakfast. I did that for a year and packed on 30lbs.

are you sure that you are really eating 4000 calories a day? are you using a food scale to weigh portions, logging everything into MFP, etc...
how are you getting the 6% body fat number?0 -
How long you been bulking at 4-5K? I have a very high metabolism myself and although I've been able to reliably put on about 1 pound a week (averaged over the last 24 weeks) there are stretches where my weight fluctuates a bit up and down or holds steady. Gain can be "jerky" and not very linear.
and as ndj1979 said, are you consistently logging? Eating at 4-5K for a couple of days and then sliding for a couple of days can put you at maintenance. Just like "dieting" at a deficit, it's consistency that counts.0 -

At 6'5" 5K may not be enough. like Niner saidThen you need to eat more than 5000 calories. I had to eat 4000 calories to put on weight at 19 at 5'7". That's 8" shorter than you. And at 19. I was maintaining at 5'11" and 140 at way more than 4K
A normal day I'd drink in excess of 3 liters of Mt Dew. 1400+
Have breakfast twice(once at home... Cheerios/once at dunkin donuts with a bacon croissant) 1000+
Dinner would be a Wendy's Taco Salad, 2x Jr Bacon, 1x chicken Club and all the fries I wanted. 1500+
Lunches would vary, but only in line with the theme.0 -
Eat more. It's that simple. Resort to calorie dense foods0

Have you started tracking calories yet? Have you tried drinking some calories?0

Black bean brown rice and cottage cheese are some good foods to include in your diet to help bulk up0
