Hi!
I'm brand-new to strength training, just a couple weeks in, and I just realized I have absolutely no soreness from back/shoulder/chest day yesterday. I definitely 'felt the burn' at the time, but today? Nothing.
I should be able to feel it at least a little, right? I have definitely felt some soreness the day after my previous sessions, and I interpreted that to mean that I really did work the muscles and they're healing up.
Is this a sign that I need to increase the resistance, or is my expectation of soreness after every session misguided?

Soreness isn't that good an indicator of a good workout. You should increase resistance based on your ability to perform the specified set/rep scheme you are following.4

Your expectation is misguided. More often than not, DOMS occurs because your muscles are not used to an activity. Once they do become more accustomed, soreness becomes less and less. The whole "no pain, no gain" in terms that your workouts should hurt is essentially woo.5

They are both right.2

Nice. Thanks, everyone!
I had a feeling this was a case of incorrect assumptions on my part.1
