I can do "ape arms" daily!! Woo hoo!
I only did 30 today, but yesterday I did over 70!! The day isn't over either! Ha!
Yay!
Why do you miss swimming @RonFrances8 ? It's such good exercise! AND, nice to have your post!
Amy @gillykh - Those times do happen! I am glad you decided to pick up your self and get back on your program! You got this!2 -
I really like the title of this thread. May I join?2

I made really good food choices last night despite being thrown a curve ball! Yesterday I came home from work with about 600 calories in the bank for dinner... expected that my husband and I would eat at home and I'd close out my diary at my total calorie limit for the day. Instead he surprised me with a dinner date -- dinner and music at our favorite French restaurant, which has an awesome jazz cafe downstairs. "Old me" (a month ago) would have ordered my usual menu items that I get there: French onion soup, steak frites with a big ball of truffle butter on the steak, 3 glasses of wine (the hubs was driving), several slices of bread with butter before the meal, dessert at the end. Instead, "new me" ordered a completely different meal there for the first time ever: a big bowl of fresh, chunky gazpacho, skate wing with roasted cauliflower, had 1 slice of bread, and cut way back on the wine. Had one bite of my husband's dessert. My dinner was easily 1,000 calories less than my usual order there... and I LOVED it and didn't miss the other foods one bit. I ended my day about 150 calories over goal, and logged every darn bite of what I ate... and considering what it could have been if I just went "oh well, didn't expect this, I'm going to throw caution to the wind for one night", I'm thrilled.
(Not stepping on the scale for a couple of days though, because OMG THE SALT.)6 -
@SaraKim17 - it took me a while to answer because I suddenly "feel" that all my efforts are wrong. Not that they are, it's just a feeling. My nutrient dense breakfast kept me from overeating all day. However, I woke up horribly hungry the next day!
Breakfast of a hungry person:
All in one big cereal bowl:
10 almonds (helps mood)
1 Brazil nut (helps cholesterol)
5 walnuts (omega 3)
1/8 cup raw sunflower seeds (regularity)
1/8 cup slightly roasted pumpkin seeds (high iron)
1 tablespoon raw cacao nibs (high magnesium)
1/8 cup raisins (how sweet it is!)
1/4 cup frozen blueberries (antioxidant)
A few dry roasted peanuts (protein)
A few roasted soybeans (because I like them)
1 tablespoon nonfat dry milk (organic Bob's Red Mill)
1 scoop Amazing Grass Green Super food (get your veggies)
5 shakes from the Monk's Fruit container (natural low calorie sweet)
Stir until green coats everything.
Pour 1/2 cup or more of chilled water over all of it.
Eat with a spoon.
This held my ravenous hunger at bay all day. I ate part for breakfast. I stuck the remainder in the fridge and ate part for lunch. I was able to eat normally and lightly for the rest of the day. However, the next day, my terrible hungry all day mood returned.
I researched so much to come up with that... I cannot eat the same thing everyday. More research to come.
So now, I wish I had a juicer. I'm going through a phase where it seems that investing in something expensive would cause me to lose weight and feel better. BUT I KNOW BETTER!!!! Sigh.
75 ape arm reps today!!! Yay! I'm glad to have found an exercise I can do!
@MidModJenn - your 1000 calorie supper sounds scrumptious. Way to go!!!
@happysherri - You can do it!!! Hang in there!
@swim777 - welcome!
@jessiquoi - Here's me wishing you a fabulous weekend!
Love to all.

Today was a good day for me. After church we went out to eat and even though it was healthy, it was too much! I had also had a good breakfast so my calories were high. I went for a 2 mile walk even though usually on Sunday I don't push myself. I also walked the dog and cleaned the pool. I decided to skip dinner just so I could even things out and stay under my calorie allowance. Tomorrow will be a regular day.4

Hi, I'm this Sophie from Australia!
This July I aim to spend a lot less money on junk food and spend that on nice things for myself to feel good including new fitness clothes!
I also have a goal to go to the gym 3 or 4 times a week not just to lose weight but also because it actually makes me feel good about myself and feel productive.5 -
@sophie9492015 It is definitely a mood boost to go to the gym regularly! I went yesterday although it was very hot outside and I do not regret it. I feel good that I did go, I feel strong and I gain so much energy (and appetite for healthy food).
My beautiful behavior is that I got through last weeks forced break from sports, healthy food and MFP without any gains (or losses for that matter, as I try to maintain) and instantly back into the good behaviors (logging, going to the gym, thinking more about what I eat). Yesterday I even roamed the flat thinking "But I want fruit... I want fruit!". I had to settle for some raisins because chocolate would not have cut it.4 -
Hi. My name is Christina. I want to try and focus on the things I enjoy and not worry about the scale numbers. Media has sterotypes what beautiful is and it's wrong. I am tired of comparing myself to photo shopped models. I want to love myself and be happy in my skin. This is my goal.3

Okay HERE is why I keep wanting a juicer or food processor!!https://youtube.com/watch?v=Aaxa7rxEbyk&app=desktop
Wow! Our new members are so very active! I love it! @chrissymoore06 - You are so pretty in that photo. It is maddening that our media takes pretty and portrays it as second best. And what's first? Someone who isn't even real...
Hi to @sophie9492015 and @skymningen and @swim777 !!! Are you on weight loss journeys or general self care?
I started today with 39 reps of ape arms. There was some fatigue, but I'm so glad to have an exercise that I can do!1 -

Thank you so much. It took a long time but im learning to love myself and that is really all it takes to overcome the scale number. Social media be damned!2 -
@chrissymoore06
I rekon! Its so so hard as a young woman not to be constantly comparing yourself to perfect photo shopped images and even the difference of the way clothes look on you and the way they are "suposed" to look on manicans in stores.
One of my major goals is to stop comparing myself also. And they wonder why so many people have such low self esteem, eating disorders etc2 -
Well.
I'm at a pivotal point in this self care journey.
Something has to change....

Hi! I'm learning how to play piano. I find it very mentally nourishing (and challenging) and it has made my life so much better.5

H-e-l-l-o Ladies!!!! Oh how I have missed you!
Trying to catch up on all the posts. Its been crazy at work and will be for the next 8-10 months so I wont be here much. Sorry. I will continue my beautiful behaviors. I just got back from vacation. I went off track but I am not beating myself up over it. I treated myself and my grrandkiddos so it was all good. Back at it now...I am thinking of a cruise in Jan so I need to refocus and get to work. I am still working out just not my routine like I was before I went on vacation. Back to cardio and weights and shooting the bow.
@rheddmobile I currently pull 50ish pounds on my compound and about 40 on my trad bow. Going to work up to 55 on the compound for hunting season and 45 for my trad so maybe I can hunt with it next year for whitetail.
@aleahurst - How is the oxygen going? Still keeping that water intake going?
@happysherri - hang in there. Sending some prayers hoping you get it figured out.
Beautiful behavior today - going to get a walk in at lunch and start my outside walks at night again.
Have a great day ladies!0 -
@str8bowbabe see the post above yours for our August thread.
