Why is it so difficult to become motivated to change my lifestyle and become fitter? I've played sports previously and lost weight and i've enjoyed it and love the social aspect of sports but why do I still find it so hard to get off my behind and change my self even when i know its actually something I enjoy!? Help! I'm stuck in a motivational rutt...

I just ate a jalapeño sausage roll with cheese from the donut shop. I'm meeting someone in 45 minutes and I'm afraid it's going to hit me at the wrong time.
So I get what you're saying. The struggle is real.2 -

Because inertia is a thing. And motivation is fleeting. I completely understand and empathize with your situation, that's been me for most of my adult life. I will say that being on MFP is helpful, very helpful. Likeminded people definitely help.
Just start with one day. Track what you eat. Move in a way that feels good. Then carefully monitor how it makes you feel. Then do it the next day and the next, rinse repeat. It'll become a habit, people will be complimenting you, and before long, begging for your advice.
Do it because it feels fantastic. Do it for the "damn you got hot!" Do it just to see what you look like in your dream bod.
All you gotta do is start.

Some wise soul once said to me " there will be no motivation without action first" basically meaning that once you get up and get going it'll motivate you to do more. It helps me when I just can't be bothered, get up and walk for 5 minutes and it makes me more motivated.
Also visit the success stories on here, always motivates me.3 -

It's a mental thing, there are days I'd rather have my left nut stepped on by an ostrich than go to the gym but I'll make myself go. Once I'm in there and working out I'm usually fine.3 -
I don't know, you just kinda suck it up and do it.0
