I was wanting to start meal prepping either just enough to keep good in the fridge for a few days or make my own freezer meals. I find if there is nothing "healthy" made i will just make something "bad" because its fast.
For those who make their own freezer meals what containers do you freeze in. And how do you reheat them. Do you go straight from the freezer to microwave. Or do you take your meals out the night before and let them unthaw in the fridge.
For those who prep just enough to keep in the fridge how long would some of the following items keep in the fridge for:
Rice
Beans
Brocolli
Peas and carrots
Cooked peppers and onions
Brussel Sprouts
Potatoes
Meats cooked
Chicken
Turkey
Hamburger
Fish
Steak
Pork Chops
Thanks

The food should last at least 4 to 5 days. I only prep for 5 days. So you should not have to freeze anything unless you cook enough to last more than a week. The containers can be found on amazon fairly cheap.1

I usually cook one night a week and will cook 2-3 entrees. Each entree is then divided into 4 meals, so I have 8-12 meals throughout the week that I can heat up at work or home. Most of the meals go into the freezer. when I am ready to eat, I put them in the microwave for 2 minutes if frozen. I leave some meals in the refridgerator at work and will usually eat them until Friday. Those meals include Chicken, brocoli, spinach, and so on. So usally 5 days
I use plastic containers from Glad or Rubbermaid. Buy a bunch of the same type, so they stack in your freezer easily.1 -
I bought containers with 3 sections from the dollar tree which have served me well.1

Meal prepping makes such a big difference. I also make mason jar salads which stay fresh for 2-3 days because of the glass jars and I chop up fresh veggies and make 6-7 mixed veggie bags to take to work.1

I usually only prep 2 to 3 days out. Sunday for Monday to Wednesday. Then Wednesday for Thursday and Friday. I usually don't prep the weekend and leave it for whatever I am in the mood for while staying within calories.0

I used to meal prep when I was single (it was easier to just be able to grab a box for lunch or dinner and have time for working out). My fiance however isn't as big on it, so it's sort of tapered off. However, when we have kids, I plan to be doing some prepping again so I have stuff ready to go for me and the kids during the day.0
