Question about rest days

Hi everyone

So I was just wondering how often you take longer periods of time off from working out? I don't mean you regular rest days( mine are Thursday and Sunday) but do you ever take 3-4 days or even a whole week off? This past week I've been feeling so sore and achey. I worked out 3 x but the workouts were a real struggle! And I don't mean a good struggle like workouts should be. My legs particularly are really sore and my arms just feel like they're dead! I haven't been able to lift even half what I usually do. I'm not sure if I'm just being a bit lazy and should push through it because of course we all have days when we don't want to workout but just get on with it. Or is my body telling me to take a break? I haven't had a long period of rest days since he beginning of may when I got back from my 3 week trip. Should I just take the weekend off and get back on it on Monday or push trough it? Also will my slightly crappy workouts this week really effect my weight loss? I've actually heard some people say taking a few days off can help but I'm not sure the science or reasons behind this

me personally if my joints or knee, or back hurts then i rest until it stops hurting but normally, i will keep going...the first time/day i did Jillian Michaels 30DS i felt like i was ready to die i was so sore, but i kept at it until finally i was a little bit sore to where it was almost gone, so i just kept at it and had a day here and there to rest

Sometimes I have felt exactly like that just before I get a cold or am unwell, then of course, I am forced to take the time off.

Take a few days off, then when you get back to working out you will most likely feel that much better and the quality of your training sessions will be much improved.

Considering youre sleeping a full 8 every night, you should be fine for workouts everyday except sunday(rest) if you are feeling sore and achey between your usual workouts, it might be time to add a bit more fuel to the tank IMO

I take breaks anytime I feel something is "not quite right". I know my body pretty well, and I can tell whether it's just lazy and doesn't want to be worked out, or if it's something other. I don't work out when I'm injured, sick, exhausted, over trained, lacking sleep or hungover. I don't want my body to have to deal with too many issues at the time, I want it to focus on handling whatever the problem is, instead of adding to the problem.
