Depression/loneliness/boredom- chicken &egg?

I find myself getting periods of being really down - when I just sit and watch TV and do this sort of stuff.
I have a job I enjoy, a great partner and a job I love. However, I have few friends and my family is 8 hours away.

At times I'm happy with what I got and can't be bothered socialising but at other times I feel very lonely- especially when like now, my partner is working long hours. I have started hundreds of hobbies but just get bored and when I'm feeling like this- I just can't be bothered to do anything.

When I do start something like dieting or a new hobby, I throw myself into it and then a few days later, I've moved onto something else.
Can anyone relate to this and/ or help me?

I know where you are coming from. It sucks..... but you are not the only one that goes through this.

I am living in a Country where I dont speak the language, my friends are far away..... and on top of it.... I just retired and have nothing to do all day Long.

Luckily the TV sucks here.... so I dont sit and watch tv. Makes for a Long day when all I do is housework to pass the time.

it is hard to break the sinking feelings isn't it? I now have found that no matter what, work, at home, traveling, I stand up 10 minutes of every hour some how or some way. For whatever reason, it helps/works. Also, I challenge you to just stand up and hop. It is very hard to feel down after hopping or skipping. Just me, I am an accountant so I have to focus for long periods of time some days without human interaction or I won't meet deadlines.

I exercise when I'm bored. You could start a walking group in your area, I was thinking of doing this. Just put an ad up in the local grocer or post office with a time and place. You can meet new people who are also interested in exercise and fitness. You could learn how to meditate if you have a quiet house to yourself. Mind and body are both important.

It sounds to me like you're unable to commit to something because you don't make it exciting for yourself, so it turns into a chore really quickly. That's when you lose interest and move onto something else.

I have the exact same thing and I've been forcing myself to stick to logging my food and doing new exercises and so forth. I am sensitive to disappointing people, so I've befriended a lot of people on the site and regularly update my feed with what I'm doing in the day. I get a ton of comments and support that make me feel like I don't just have to prove something to myself, but I also don't want to disappoint these people who've been so helpful to me!

I find this to be my anchor to keep me going with this. If I had been on my own, I probably would have given up already.

It might help you to find something similar to this that keeps you tied to the diet and exercising.

I've just mooches around all day( I did go for a run) and am now annoyed that I wasted a day. I hope I feel better tomorrow.
