    Yes I save mine.

I have a mason jar in the fridge with the ring around it and cheesecloth wrapped over the lid. So I just pour the fat through the cheese cloth top and it's nice and filtered.

I have too much to use, I think I may make a bacon fat soap out of it. I already make lard soap so I assume it's similar to soap with.

Lard soap? Bacon soap? Is that a thing. I love smelling like bacon all day

There's a mason jar full of bacon fat in my freezer. I use it for bacon flavoring when pan frying certain meat/egg dishes instead of using canola, olive oil and/or butter.

Same here. Because brussels sprouts fried in bacon fat with some salt is amazing.

Yeah, forgot to mention veggies too. Great w/sprouts, green beans, spinach, kale cabbage etc.

BTW, b4 I saved it, I would NEVER pour bacon fat down the drain. If I had an empty can or jar available, I'd pour it it that and toss the can/jar out after the fat congealed or just soak it all up in paper towels and toss the fat soaked paper out in the trash.

Lard makes a fantastic soap actually. A nice creamy, hard white bar. And the lard smell disappears.

Bacon fat is a lot more fragrant, so it might retain the scent more in the finished bar.

I use it for eggs, if I'm making breakfast potatoes or refreshing beans.

I also keep the fat from like a prime rib. It adds lots of flavour to whatever you make with it

I always wash the pan after making bacon for the eggs. I guess I should keep it

I'm assuming it's like a thing that's like not everyday

Bf is worried about his health all the time so that's like a lot of what I'm thinking about on this

    Idk .. confusing honestly

I pour it through a coffee strainer. Works great in buttermilk biscuits, but a bit salty.

If you use the bacon fat after cooking bacon, you need to log the amount of fat separately in the Diary. In the US, the Calories listed on the package are for the cooked bacon only; those Calories do not include the usually discarded fat. For a light brushing of bacon fat in my non-stick pan, I log 2g of bacon fat when I cook eggs.

From the USDA database, one 28g slice of unprepared bacon contains about 11g fat. After pan-frying, on average that cooked slice will contain only 4g of fat, so there is about 7g of fat rendered out. If you use the entire fat to cook, be sure to log all 7g of fat per 28g slice of raw bacon.

Most stores don't sell homemade lye-based soaps anyway, they're all detergent based. I do see some bacon fat soap on Etsy!

Either way, I wouldn't be selling it... I'd just lather myself up with bacony goodness. :)

It's true. Some people have networks of drug dealers, I have elaborate underground barter networks of honey, raw milk, lye soap, hot sauce, and green/blue/brown egg dealers. I personally am making the world a better place by keeping all these sugar addicts supplied with sweet, sugary, home-grown, home-canned jam. :D
