Hi everyone :)

I'm semi new to the My Fitness Pal community. I've been wanting to get more healthy and lose some weight for years now.

I have a huge issue with commiting to any sort of weight loss plan or healthier diets. I've been through so many and just now do I feel like I really want to do this and change my life forever.

My question is - how is this community for motivation? Do any of you have the same issue and if so how do you get past it :) I was thinking of finding myself some sort of fitness pen pal who could help motivate me and vice versa. (The position is open hehe ;) )

I really appreciate any help.

Thanks everyone :3

Since you ask, I don't think much of motivation. In fact, I wish MFP would change the name of this board.

Motivation is unreliable and too fleeting to sustain long term weight loss. To lose weight we have to work at it even when we don't feel like it.

Building good habits will take you farther than motivation. But when really up against it, I think what's needed is determination.

It's cold, it's raining and you just found out it takes $850 to fix your car. Who's going to be motivated? Some days you need grit.
