Is dancing a good exercise?

Just curious. I plan on dancing for 1 hour, 5 days a week for cardio, then do some strength training on the weekends. Is dancing good enough to lose weight?

Absolutely! Granted it depends on the kind of dancing and how many breaks you take...stuff like that, but if you commit an hour a day to it you should definitely see some changes. I was on my dance squad in high school and my first year I lost 20 lbs without even changing my diet. Dancing is hard work!

You don't actually need to do anything other than have a calorie deficit for weight loss. Cardio benefits your cardiovascular system. If you enjoy dancing than it will be a wonderful source of fitness!!

Depending on the type of dancing, absolutely! Remember how much Kelly Osbourne lost when she was on Dancing With the Stars? :)

That is dependant if dancing would put you in a deficit on average.

Dance, train, or cardio all you want...

If you aren't in a deficit on average, you will not lose weight.

If you are eating in a deficit, you'll lose weight. Dancing sounds like fun, and there's always room for that!
