60 lbs is a way to go. It'll probably take over a year to do if you arnt very active.
So do one of 2 things. Throw your hands up, or start at it5 -
I do workout, swim as well.. just drags..0

@AnaA78 Please go to your settings and reset your calorie target with your age, gender, current weight, a reasonable goal weight, and a weekly loss rate of 0.5 lb. MFP will tell you how many calories you can eat.
Then, and I strongly believe you need to do this, go to your nearby merchant or to Amazon and buy a kitchen scale with gram sensitivity and a tare function. If you will further make sure it runs on AA or AAA batteries you'll enjoy the cheap battery replacement when that time comes.
If you already do have a scale, use it. If you already use it for a few things, use it for everything.
With 60 lb to lose, you could easily be needing to lose 30 % of your body weight. That really is possible if you weigh your food, log everything you eat correctly, and complete every day within your calorie budget.
At the very least, use this moment of your frustration to self-critically examine all your habits and assumptions about food.16 -
I feel you, after my most recent large weight gain (yo-yoing for years) I just have very little hope of ever maintaining a weight loss. My motivation is really low. I can't really get my head around the work its going to take. Have you tried taking a break from losing and just do what you need to maintain at your current weight? 5 years is a long time.
This time I'm taking it slow, not pushing it too hard. At least I've been losing. Hopefully the motivation and knowledge will kick in.2 -
Sara, i have tried taking a beak and that is what made me gained weight. I've always been a big baby, the biggest size i was a 22 And smallest was a 10 now im a tight 12 almost 14. It seems evwrytime I restart I don't see anything and give up. I don't know why i can't lose weight again.0

You need to eat less than what you burn. That is how you lose weight. Follow what JeromeBarry1 suggested and do it.4

i do workout alot, so now I need to eat less and measure my food??2

Jeremy i changed my seething to 1pd and now my calories increased to 1700, isn't that alot of calories??0

Everything @JeromeBarry1 said, and on top of that it seems like you are letting fluctuations get you down and impact your choices. You can't always predict what your body does in terms of water retention and weight loss from week to week, but what you CAN do is:
1) Download a weight tracker app like Libra or Happyscale and use it to learn about your natural weight fluctuations
2) Give it time
3) Stick with it
It's a learning process, and the only way to be successful over time is to be consistent and find a system of healthy habits that you can live with.

I run almost daily and my calorie intake is only 1500 daily. If you really want to loose the weight and fast you need to be in a caloric deficient state meaning you burn more than you consume. Try doing fasted cardio at least 30 min daily before breakfast. For breakfast drink a protein shake as a meal replacement and some fruit. Drink at least a gallon of water daily and keep you carbs low. Do this and I promise you that you will start seeing changes fast. Remember nothing worth having comes easy so you need to push past your comfort zone in order to achieve your goals. Hope this helps.11

But look how far you've come. You're not a size 22 anymore. You're a normal 12/14. You absolutely can lose weight again you just have to get your head back into it. Small steps, 1/2 pound a week.

Also really good advice about the weight trend apps. Don't let isolated data points get you down. Always consider scale weight in context (am I adequately hydrated? Did I eat more sodium than normal yesterday? Time of month? Is the trend going down despite fluctuations?)

You can loose up to 2lbs a week very comfortably and healthy without starving yourself. I let myself go after I found out my daughter has cancer but she's fighting so I'll fight and so far I've lost 16lbs in the past month and a half. Back down to 160 with plenty of muscle mass. Still have a little bit of fat to loose around my mid section. So I am telling you from experience it's possible and don't give up.7

1700 real calories isn't a lot. It's a modest calorie intake for a woman. (I have a normal weight now, and 1700 calories would make me lose around 100 grams per week. If you are overweight, you will lose faster eating 1700 calories.) If you're maintaining 60 excess pounds, you're eating more than that, maybe 2300 calories. If you're gaining weight, you're eating more than that too, maybe 2700 calories. This is why you get the recommendations to weigh your food, so that you can see how much you really eat, and how much you have to cut.
Many people think they would have to cut so much, so they don't even want to think about weightloss. But you're not supposed to stop eating to lose weight. You just have to stop overeating. Weighing and logging helps you do that. It's a tool. But you still have to not eat too much. And you have to do it consistently. Not try for a few days, not see any results on the scale, and give up. You can't see the results on the scale from a few days' effort, it takes weeks to see any discernible trend. And then you have to go on and on, and you can't be hungry, hangry, lethargic or bored, because then you'll surely give up. So you need to do something you can do consistently for months and months. What this is, is up to you to find out and decide. We can help you find out, but you have to decide. What is not up to you to decide, though, and nothing to ponder, is that to lose weight, you have to eat less, and you have to do it yourself. This applies to everybody.9 -
Ana,don't give up that's all I can say. I can see you are young, don't wait till you are a grandma to loose the weight! I did loose 78 pounds as a granny, it took 14 months. My biggest regret is not doing it when I was younger. The book ,the beck diet solution helped me.I constantly keep reminding myself why I want to be a healthy weight, everyday. It was hard, still is, but everytime I pull on those size 6 jeans I'm amazed.please keep trying, you can do it!0

Grrl, I have been discouraged too. But success is possible. Stick with your calorie budget and you will succeed.0

You do need to examine your worldview a little bit like Jerome mentioned. From size 22 to 10 or 12 you're not talking diet and small adjustment, you're talking change of worldview.
And your comment that you're tired after 5 years leads one to assume that you've not found a way to permanently change your relationship with food and movement and acivity which include more than just deliberate exercise.
An interesting trick to consider is eating the calories that a lightly active person at your goal weight would eat. While relying on your current higher weight and perhaps increased activity level to ensure some slow and steady weight loss you will also be training yourself on how you will permanently have to eat in order to maintain your new weight.
By the sounds of it such a change in mental focus away from a diet and into future maintenance may be beneficial...1
