What are some of the things you never thought you would do (either again, or for the first time) until you started getting fit/losing weight?

I never thought I would:

1. join a health club
2. actually go to the health club and enjoy it
3. work with a personal trainer

and now I've done all three.

Edited for completeness.

    -join a gym
-be able to do a pull up
-stick with the gym routine (I've tried exercises before, but didn't stick to it for long)

    hopefully more to come.. :)

I was the kid no one wanted on their team in HS- for good reason. I never learned the rules, was awful at team sports, and I was always the one out in left field in softball hoping the ball wouldn't go near me because then I'd have to catch it and I probably wouldn't be able to.

So... I never thought I'd join a winning team and they'd WANT me.

When I was 50 I changed jobs and relocated. When they started recruiting for the local corporate athletic competition, I found that competition was scarce in my age group for stuff that I considered ordinary- swimming 200 meters, running a mile, riding a bike 3 miles, the 5K (walking permitted). They LOVED me- you get extra points for being in the top 3 in your age group and company size class, and frequently there were only 3- or fewer. I got roped into the sprint triathlon when I was 57. Now it's my favorite event. Last year I changed jobs. Fortunately my new employer was also a participant and I had just moved up into the 60-64 age group. I racked up a lot of points. This even has really challenged me to test my limits and stay fit. I've lost almost 20 lbs. and like what I see in the mirror (well, except for the frown lines and the grey hair).

    It's never too late.

I never thought I'd be able to run, let alone win medals! :drinker:

I never thought I'd be able to eat as much as I do and still look the way I do.

I never thought weight lifting would give me MORE curves.

I never thought I could squat, deadlift, overhead press or bench as much as I do.

I never thought I'd enjoy being WRONG so much!

...Actually enjoy getting up at 7am on my days off to go for my 4 mile walk/run. Now it seems I don't feel "normal" if I don't get up and do this. I just wish I didn't have to be at work so early on the days I do work, otherwise I would be doing it those days too. Maybe when I eventually switch jobs I can work a 9-5 job so I have time to workout in the morning...EVERY MORNING!
