Newbie needing a kick start!

Today I ended up crying in a changing room after trying on a pair of shorts. I'm sure a lot of you will have had the same experience.
I'm sick of hating my body, so I've decided to really change my lifestyle as of today. I'm only in my early 30's and I can't stand the thought of hating my body so much that I can't wear comfortable clothes in summer.
I've done the 5:2 diet in the past and found it helpful for de-bloating and keeping a lid on my appetite, so I was going to start that again. I don't like calorie counting every single day though, I find it kinda stressful. Not sure what other dietary changes will help. Maybe giving up dairy? Alcohol?
I'm also going to go to the gym 6 days a week for the next month - I know that's extreme but it's just so I can see what kind of changes I can make if I put my mind to it. I feel like it'll help me stay motivated. 30 mins cardio + 20 mins strength training. At the moment I'm only going once a week so I'm hoping to see some good results.
Any advice? I'm going on holiday at the end of September and I have a new bikini which I am determined to feel good in so the next two months are crucial!!
Thanks
