I don't eat a lot of cheese, but I'm guessing that it's sharp cheddar. I'm looking for something that tastes like Subway cheddar if possible. I just want it to be low or nonfat and presliced. Thanks.

Alpine lace has a good reduced fat cheddar (5g fat per slice, 6g protein). Nice cheddar flavor, pre-sliced, and available near the deli section usually.

To be honest, I have never had a good tasting nonfat cheese. I think fat is pretty essential to cheese's flavor. I am interested to know of anyone else's contrary experience.

IMO fat free cheese is like eating plastic.

Sargento and some stores carry their own brand of 2% slices already packaged usually near the prepkg bologna/lunchmeats.

    What's wrong with fat?

I eat the 2% stuff and it's ok. Full fat is just too many calories and too much fat per ounce, for me. You couldn't pay me to eat the nonfat stuff though.

Without looking I am guessing that you are all American?

I have been trying to find an answer to a question for ages, please believe me I am not being snobby here, I am REALLY curious.

Fat free cheese - what is it?

I just can't imagine it still be cheese. Same with yoghurt and cream really.

We don't get it here and I can't find any information on what/how.... it has niggled me for years.

And what does it taste like. What is the texture like? You can see how it has stuck in my head.

I do eat cheese. It is a treat and we buy farmhouse and artisan cheeses and enjoy every morsel. Which may be why I have a morbid fascination with what I can only imagine is non cheese cheese.

PLEASE will someone help e get this out of my head?
