Energy swings and sleep disruption as you lose weight

So, I'm a week into my new eating habits... and I'm finding that I'm a bit of a mess energy- and sleep-wise. During the day, there are moments where I have so much energy I feel like I could lift a car... then an hour later all I want to do is nap. Same with sleep -- I can fall asleep pretty quickly, but in the middle of the night I wake up and toss and turn for hours.

When I did a Whole30 last year, I remember reading that sleep disruption sometimes happens because your body is going "Ack! where are all the simple crappy carbs I used to use for energy? I must be starving so I'm going to panic!" Has anyone else experienced this, and how did you get it to stop? Does it go away on its own, or should I be changing up what I eat (mostly Paleo, 1500 cal/day) to even out?

I find that eating a snack shortly before bed helps me to sleep better. You might try saving some calories until then.

I like having a higher carb bedtime snack.

However, lots of people have problems sleeping because their calorie deficit is too aggressive. How many pounds do you want to lose and what is your weekly weight loss goal set to?

I'm at 1500 calories/day, I'm 5' tall and need to lose 100-120 pounds. I'd be happy with a pound a week, so I don't want to go under 1500 calories right now.

I'll try the little snack before bed tonight and see if it helps...
