Hi everyone.
My name is Eva, I am 35, I live in the United Kingdom and I work as a cook in children's nursery. After first 10 months in this job I managed to pile on about 14pounds by picking, tasting and nibbling....
I am 5'7" so that makes me roughly 50 pounds
overweight so I decided that enough is enough. I started walking to work (Well walking everywhere), I do around 10k steps a day. I try to do some sort of exercise 6 tines a week for at least 40mins.
My overall diet was and is ok. I never been into convenient food, fizzy drinks, crisps or sweets. So I didn't really have to sacrifice anything. All I really have to do is to watch my portion sizes.
The problem for me is that I lost 7 pounds in my first two weeks and nothing at all for three weeks now....
My calorie goal is set on 1500  my job is quite physical so I didn't want to be too strict to myself. I lowered it to 1300 which is only 100 more than the minimum you need to just live..

So here it goes: I'd like to get advice, criticism or even words of encouragement.

Thank you.x

I'm into my 3rd week and I lost quite a bit in the first 2 weeks but it all just stopped. I'm putting it down to muscle. I didn't exercise much at all but for the last 3 weeks been walking around 4k everyday. If it is plateau I've read it can last sometimes for a min of 4 weeks. I don't rely on the scales as much anymore, if I'm eating better and getting a good amount of exercise I'm happy with that. You sound like you've picked up your activity level so it could be muscle. I'm still only new to this but I hope that helps.

Weight loss comes in waves - and as a woman, hormones are a key reason. As you track for longer you will notice your weight fluctuate in tune with your cycle - maintaining or gaining a little when your ovulating or just before your period (this differs between women), and then a big drop after your period. The point is, if you wait another week or so, you'll probably get a decent size drop in weight if you have been eating less. Patience is essential in this weight loss game!!

FWIW, I'm just over 5'7", 135lbs and eating 1530 and still consistently losing, albeit very slowly as I'm only three pounds from goal.

Perspective - you have lost 7lbs in five weeks. That's a nice rate of loss.

Advice - you have reacted too quickly, think longer term. Look for the trend and ignore the peaks and troughs. To find the trend you have to be consistent and patient.

If you plateau for a couple of months then it's probable you have an issue to resolve. That issue is most likely to be found in your food diary which is currently private to you alone.
