Weighing Food- Weigh BEFORE or AFTER grilling?

Pardon me if it's been asked before, but when you enter your food in a diary, does it get entered as the weight of the meat before you cook it or what it ways after you take it off the grill?
Tonight we made sirloin steak on the grill and when putting the meat on the scale prior to cooking it was 11 ounces but after we took it off the grill it was 8. Which way does it get entered to be counted effectively in the days calories?

Thanks

Doing it before generally leads to fewer underestimates, and also doesn't introduce additional errors from the cooking method (important for water-absorbing foods like rice, pasta, etc).

My answer is actually a question. When I log my food, I weigh it after but I am careful to pick a food that has the description that the calories are for cooked food. For example, baked chicken, grilled steak or sauted green peppers.
If I measure or weigh before I cook it, I look for a description that says raw or uncooked.

    So what's your question?
