Walking at work

I have a question. I do a lot of walking when I am at work. I walk around the store sweeping the floor and cleaning the store for 4 hours. Do I log this as exercise? If so, how? I saw walking listed in the exercise list, but it has walking 2.0 mph slow pace and others listed like that. What would be the correct one to choose for this?

Maybe light house-cleaning? It's hard to say since you stop and start a lot when cleaning/sweeping.

No, you factor it into your activity level setting. Prob lightly active. Exercise is for purposeful exercise.

Work isn't exercise. Up your activity level to account for your job.

Set your activity level appropriately or purchase an activity tracker that connects to MFP

^ This. I wore a Fitbit when I worked my office job to track the amount of walking I did on my computer breaks (would take a couple of laps around the floor or do a flight of stairs and lap on another floor).

Now that I work in child care, I just set my activity level to lightly active since I don't take any dedicated walking breaks and laying kids down to nap would always cause some issues with the Fitbit (patting kids to sleep would switch it to sleep mode or rocking would cause to count for extra steps...and I could be rocking a kid for 20+ minutes).

Get Runkeeper for free. I used it for a few years and it will track walking. Assuming you have an android or apple device....

    This^

A FitBit or other activity tracker that syncs with MFP might be helpful. Those devices compare your stated activity level against your actual activity and give you credit for the difference.

Logging too many things as exercise is going to increase your risk of double counting.

I also walk a lot at work, I don't log it as exercise because I figured my body was used to it because I've been doing it for 12 years.
