Desk workout

I use to work in retail, which of course always kept me moving and I loved it. But the hours for my growing family just didn't work. I got my degree and now work a desk job, love what I do but hate not being able move. So I brought a 5 and 10 lb weight to work with me and I try to find different exercises I can do at my desk. I plan to bring some bands soon too. My family schedule doesn't currently allow for gym time. Anyone else live the desk life? Anybody have suggestions? I also walk the stairs during lunch and avoid the elevator at all cost.

    can you work out at home in the morning or when you get home. lots of great workouts on you tube

    otherwise walking or jogging at lunch time?

    I have an elliptical that I do at home in the evenings. I just try to find ways to keep moving throughout the day too. I have heard of some really good free online workouts; i'll have to look into that one too.

    Make sure you get up once per hour or so and take a 5 minute walk. Take a 30 minute walk at lunchtime. All in all, that would net you about 60 minutes of extra walking per day.

    Get a standing desk if your company supports it.

    I don't bother with "desk workouts"...I just make sure I get up and walk around the office a bit every hour or so...take the stairs...avoid "rock star" parking anywhere I go, etc. I make time for deliberate exercise and cycle most mornings before work and get a bit of a longer ride in on the weekend.

    I wish I could get the treadmill desk; but that wont happen. I do get up and walk occasionally, I guess I never thought about adding the time together, It sounds better that way lol

    I do most of my exercise at work. I have a desk job, bought a fitbit, that vibrates if I am stationary for over an hour. I park a 10-minute walk to my office, I walk for 20 minutes on my morning break and 20 minutes on my afternoon break and ten minutes to walk back to my car after work = 60 minutes. That is my minimum some days I also walk 30 minutes at lunch time.

    You don't necessarily need a treadmill desk. Standing desks are just that - they're higher than normal and don't have chairs so you literally stand while you're in your office. You can actually build yourself one by putting your monitor and keyboard on top of a bunch of boxes but you'll probably need to clear that with your office manager first!
