Protein powder is just a way to get protein in to your diet, as an alternative to protein from food. Eating protein may make you feel more satiated, making sticking to your calorie goal easier, but other than that it's not magical.
Weight loss comes from calorie deficit.3 -
Yes, it can really help you in losing weight. But, you have to make sure it fits in your daily caloric goal. Log it. I take it around 9am and it keeps me from snacking until lunch.
Congratulations in buying what I consider the BEST protein powder out there. Hope you got the chocolate. I used to mix mine with 1% milk, but it's so good, I can mix it with water.1 -
The thing that helps me lose with protein shakes, is that I can make one for under 300 calories (I like to add stuff in), but it can keep me full for hours and hours. I can drink one at 9 AM and not want to eat until 2 or 3 PM. So, it gives me more calories to play with during my day for a bigger dinner or to fit in a good dessert.
So, I get a lot of bang for my caloric buck with protein shakes. But, I still have to run a deficit to lose. There is no magic in the shake.0 -
Protein wont help you loose weight.Itl build you muscle and keep you full.Theres no magical potion unfortunately...train hard n be in a caloric deficit0

Take the responders with a grain of salt. Many prefer to not read between the lines and understand that did not mean to ask if a protein shake was a magic potion that -poof- weight loss. I believe the between the lines question is "are there low cal protein shakes such as gold standard that can satiate you and help you meet your caloric goals?" And the answer is an astounding yes.2
