30 lbs

It is 90% certain we will be going to Cancun next summer. I want to drop 30-40 lbs for the vacation. I don't want to be covering up and embarrassed on vacation. I want to look and feel good.

I'm currently 161 do you think this is possible?

1lb a week for 12 months is 48lbs. So yeah, definitely. But you're going to have to really stick to it, the last 10lbs are probably going to come off a lot slower than 1lb a week.

Also it doesn't "look" like you need to lose that much. Make sure you're calculating a healthy BMI.

In my first 8 months on mfp I lost 65 lbs . So I really do think you can do it!

Just make sure to follow thru diet and exercise and you got this!

How quick the weight will come off depends on a number of factors. If you are close to or are in within normal "healthy" weight range then it will be harder to lose 30lb than if you was say 50lbs overweight.

I know BMI is not a great indicator but how close to your top end BMI weight are you

I recommend don't be a slave to a number on a scale. By that I mean pay just as much attention to the mirror and the way your clothes fit as you do your weight, especially if you are exercising. You may find you look great at a different number than the goal weight you chose now!

Definitely possible, I have lost 33 pounds in 4 months and only have 7 pounds left to goal. Start off by setting small goals and just start logging and exercising.
