How long to get out of starvation mode?

Wow, it's really nice to hear you guys just refuting starvation mode when I assume you have never experienced it. Have you eaten 800 calories consistently for several months? And lost quickly then slowed down to nothing? It does not take low body fat levels to be in starvation mode. Perhaps you might like to read this article:

it's not the same thing. starvation mode will ultimately lead to death. your body will start consuming itself as a last ditch effort to stave off death. that's why many of the people still alive on the day they were liberated from WWII concentration camps died in the days/weeks afterward. they were too far gone to be saved.

Actually, that's not true either. Have you read the Minnesota Starvation study? They were eating 1500 calories a day, half their normal daily intake, and experienced all the symptoms of starvation. In fact, the people in concentration camps ate more than you think: about 1300-1700 calories a day (http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Holocaust/auconditions.html). And when the people in the study started eating again they gained all the weight back and then some. Would you call that a yo-yo diet?
It's nice that you guys all collectively band together on this website against starvation mode. I would like to know what, precisely, you consider starvation mode, or the starvation response, or survival mode, or whatever you want to call it.0 -
