After four years of working 3pm-1130pm, I am now working 7am-330pm. My sleep schedule is good, getting 7-8 hours of good sleep with the sudden switch. The only thing is, after I eat lunch, I am hungry barely an hour later and for the rest of the day. I eat the same thing for breakfast I ate on second and it keeps me happy until lunch at 11 or 12. Around 1 o clock though, I am so hungry again. I tried eating a lunch with a good chunk of protein and I ate a snack after work. No luck.

I used to eat at 2pm before work when I worked second shift. Then I wouldn't be hungry again until I got home from work at midnight. I was able to have a small snack and be satisfied throughout work.

I've tried a bunch of stuff this week. My protein was over 100 each day (which was more than on second and has always kept me full). I tried eating a snack with protein at 2, still didn't work. I upped my calories to 1700 from 1500, that didn't work. (5'5" 140 lbs)

I'm getting frustrated. I want to feel satisfied!!! Could it be my hunger hormones adjusting to the new schedule? I don't feel tired...I had more than enough energy to run and lift this week. (Ate back my cals.) I'm trying to lose my last 15 lbs...but I can't keep coming home to trying to curb my hunger with snacks throughout the night. :(

Are you hungry at breakfast? I found pushing breakfast back until I was actually hungry helped. I'm up at 5:00, but nothing but coffee until about 9:30. Lunch around 1:00, snack about 3:00, dinner about 8:00.

I am hungry for breakfast when I first wake up. I work in a hospital blood bank, so snacks around me is a huge no-no, plus we have designated break times. So even when I am not hungry I will eat my 2 eggs and a bunch of egg whites for breakfast so I don't crash at 10.

That's a bummer. Do you think it's just a "habitual hunger" from being used to eating at a certain time, vs real hunger?

Also, I find oatmeal to be really filling. Experiment with your food combinations to see if a certain combo of carbs/fats/protein/fiber keep you fuller.

I think it might be habitual. It doesn't seem like normal hunger....kind of like a burning sensation hunger.

I dislike the texture of oatmeal. I've tried so hard to like it without gagging. :(

I find those urges to eat are usually from boredom. Get out of the house and schedule everything you will do from getting out of work to going to sleep. Ie. 3 pm drive home and get changed and clean up, 4 pm go for walk at Lake 5 pm go get dinner ready 6 pm eat dinner 7 pm watch fave show
