Which gym do you find most motivating to train at?

Interested to hear everyone's perspective on what constitutes the best training environment

The one Nature made. Especially above ~5-6k elevation.
(Tried to use community gyms back in the day - not a culture I can get into.)5 -
I think it's a very personal preference. I like my commercial gym for certain things and my Crossfit box for others.1

I'm pretty sure this would be individual specific...
I go to a small studio gym that is weight training specific...there is no cardio room and only a couple of machines off to the side if people want to warm up or cool down. The trainers their emphasize compound movements and Olympic lifting and those things are typically at the foundation of the programs they put together for their clients.1 -
My local powerlifting-focused gym (not a chain).1

I like one but specific YMCA in my town. Tons of free weights/squat racks/platform, indoor track, cardio machines and yoga studios. At the hour I went I rarely had to wait long for anything. Can't afford it now though so my gym is my basement.0

Local chain gym + crossfit box. I find I work much harder in the box, probably chasing their approval, a problem, I know.0

Which gym do you find most motivating to train at?

I go to a small, family run, gym that's in my village. The equipment isn't the newest (although they're getting there) and there isn't a ton of cardio machines, but it has everything I want including staff and clientelle that are used to my wierdness, a couple of squat racks, plenty of weight plates, support for my goals (including having taught me to lift) and some kick *kitten* classes. Only problems are they aren't open the hours I'd prefer at the weekend, but I've got the high school gym across the road for then and my PT only runs classes not PT sessions in there, but I love my outdoor PT sessions seems much easier when I've got the breeze/rain/snow cooling me down.0

Anytime Fitness. Flexible hours. It feels like a family. Very friendly and clean. I love it. My work does reimbursement too so thats a plus ☺0

I go to a commercial gym...it's a pretty diverse mix of people (a sizeable powerlifting group and recreational, competitive bodybuilders, and "regular" people). I worked out at home and was bored and less motivated.
I would prefer a powerlifting gym at this point, but there isn't a local one. We did just get another squat rack though.0 -
If I could row on the water, my gym would be outdoors, but living in New Mexico kind of precludes that, so my favorite gym is the one with several rowing machines.1

MMA Gym. It changed my life. Walked in on a whim and never went back to a traditional gym - I frankly hate them and they are the reason I was never consistent with excercise in my 30s.
I realized I could get killer workouts without ever having to run, or lift weights again. I dropped 85lbs and am still leaning out while being in the best over all shape of my life.

I love skating on our local outdoor rink

The river, in a rowing shell, whenever possible.
But I do love my Y. Multiple locations in my medium-sized metro area, lots of classes, pools, diverse equipment, clean, well-maintained, friendly staff.
Statewide, reciprocal arrangements let me use other Ys on a temporary basis, as do some nationally.
My favorite feature of my Y: Everyone is there . . . fit people, fat people, people with various physical limitations or intellectual challenges, all economic classes (it's expensive, but there's Silver Sneakers and economic-need scholarships), old people, kids and even toddlers/babies, muscle-obsessed grunting bros, hijabi women, triathletes, old guys who only like to hang out & talk big in the jacuzzi, people of many nationalities (I regularly hear Spanish, Korean, and other languages in the locker room), every race. Everyone is friendly & treated well.
I love being around that diversity - so vibrant. I've been to other gyms locally - not the same, not even close.1 -
I exercise in a few different locations, and I always get the best exercise when I'm in some sort of "class". I get my best weight lifting workouts in commercial gyms for some reason. I have a full gym at home, and even if I pump music it's hard to get into the same kind of "zone" and I don't know why.0

A no frills warehouse gym with a good free weights area and not crowded and the great outdoors on alternate days. I weight train 2x to 3x per week and walk, running intervals, hike on the off days. When I weight train, I'm not into fancy schmancy gyms. Basic get 'er done kind of environment.1

i have two memberships: small 'garage' gym where i go once a week. and a universal pass to any rec centre owned by my city's parks board. put it this way: i need the rec pass, but i love my club. if i could only have one i would drop the club. with huge regret but without questioning it.
for context though, i was never a person who needs motivation to lift. i already like it, so my reasons for what i like might not be how it works for you. i actually shun well-meaning people wanting to 'motivate' me, and i like the club exactly because my trainer just isn't that type.0 -
I can walk into pretty much any gym and feel at home. I go to put in the work. I lift heavy things. I sweat on some cardio machines. I leave. Lather, rinse, repeat the next day. To me it isn't the location that is motivating. It's seeing how my body is changing for the better that is the motivation.1

An old converted basketball court with no AC. I also live on a subtropical island where even at 4:30am it's in 80s with 80s humidity in summer.
There is a gym with AC like 2 blocks away that draw most people. The one I go to is a no thrills and no BS gym. They do have a pretty good lifting coach on hand and it's more than 75% free weights.0 -
I belong to crunch but never go. I want to because I want to learn to weight train. Idk if it's the right place for me.0

My gym is awesome, it's an individually owned gym by bodybuilders for bodybuilders. I went from working out at a commerical gym where everyone wears headphones and mean mugs you and it feels very sterile. Often times i was the only woman in the weight-lifting area and (not to be an egotistical jerk) I had the best physique of the ladies at my gym.
My new gym is about 50/50 women and men which is SO cool. And the women who work out at this gym all have amazing physiques which keep me super motivated in my own training. It's an environment where everyone smiles at you, acknowledges you're there, and is friendly. All of the equipment was handpicked by lifters for lifters so we have some awesome stuff i never ever see in a commercial gym (including a hip thrust station).
To be totally honest, the first time i walked into my new gym I saw three women who were physique competitors (already competition lean) posing in their bikinis in the back room and it was the first time i had ever seen (in person) women who had my perfect ideal physique. It was not only shocking but really eye opening about how much further I have to go.1
