I've been seeing a lot of people on here doing the keto diet. Which from my understanding it's like counting calories...you're just counting macros. My question is. The people that have lost weight on this... how did they go to maintaining their weight? Counting calories or did you just keep counting macros.

It's counting calories AND macros. It's all about calories at the base, many find the macro split of keto more satiating, which helps them maintain the deficit, or stay at maintenance, more easily. And since weightloss or maintenance are achieved by consistency over time...that's all the magic there is to it.
As far as maintenance, some find they are able to just eat to satiety and easily hang out there. Others still have to count. At it's core, maintenance is finding a place you are comfortable, discovering your horse has wandered after awhile, and steering it back on course. Rinse and repeat. But that's ANY maintenance experience, regardless of which kind of food you put in your mouth.4 -

I lost my weight with keto. I stopped counting calories because I find I do not over eat when I eat low carb. I tried adding back in a few more carbs, without calorie counting, and I regained almost 10 lbs of my lost weight. I dropped all carbs for a month, naturally ate less, and relost most of that weight.
For me, unless I want to calorie count, I will continue to eat keto for the foreseeable future. I just keep carbs below 20g a day. Approximately.2
