Didn't they used to make a margarine in a spray pump for flavoring vegetables? You could the food a couple spritzes to get the flavor without using much, presumably saving a few calories over using the spread from a tub.

But that has calories too and if OP is using an entire can of Pam - wouldn't they still be getting too many calories from an entire bottle of that butter spray. It's probably pretty comparable to the Pam in calories for the entire bottle.

I thought this was what OP was talking about... I cannot imagine using PAM spray like that.

It contains oil and lecithin. Use it sparingly just like you would real butter and oil. The only real advantage of it is that it coats a skillet well by using only a small amount. The lecithin sort of holds the droplets down on the teflon surface (same reason it makes a sticky mess if you bake with it.)

Yes - maybe it's the propellant, but it's a weird flavor (to me).......blech! Back in the day, Weight Watchers made a butter flavored spray (like Pam). It was just gross. The I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spritz tastes decent on popcorn., but yeah it's not calorie free either.

Unfortunately I do find it tasty as weird as that sounds. But the other night it really did make me sick even though I been consuming it for quit a while. I might start using it occasionally but right now I'll just use it as non stick stuff but it is hard to track or measure it because I have a different brand unless it's the same as PAM.

The can has a nutrition label on it, no?

If not, go to the manufacturer's website.

Which is why I suggested the manufacturer's website. I did that at some point, and the half second spray is 4 calories.

So if you spray 2 seconds in your pan, and then use it to cook your food, how much do you think stays in the pan, and how much gets in the food? It seems awful small calories, but I am curious. I have never counted these calories.

Ive never counted them either - I figure a few calories isnt going to make or break me - but then i am just using a minimal amount, not the huge portions OP is using.
