I take folic Acid and Biotin for my hair. My rheumatologist gave me the folic acid but I buy it over the counter along with the Biotin.1

You probably need more iron.1

I would like to repeat. I would not take any individual supplement unless I had a doctor tell me I was deficient in anything. A multivitamin can cover many minimums. I hope you do not decide to take Iron pills since they can be dangerous. And other vitamins need others to function. Example taking too much Zinc can lower your Copper, lower immunity, and low HDL. A multi will have the right zinc/copper ratio. You have to be really careful.2

Don't mess around with any changes until you see a doctor. From the information you've given, it sounds like you have a medical condition. Your doctor will be able to give you more comprehensive information, as they can run blood tests to check hormone and nutrient levels- which people responding on the internet cannot do. In the meantime, try to de-stress a bit. Whatever you do to make your life enjoyable, do a little bit more of it until you get to the doctor. Let yourself be distracted. There's no sense borrrowing trouble, save the energy for when you officially know what's going on.1

While also checking your macro are well balanced, especially proteins and fat. Personally I never realised how much my diet was lacking in both, until meticulus logging on MFP. My diet at the time was "clean", but not very well balanced. I was lacking certain nutrients and not eating enough calories, while trying to lose weight. I'm now eating a healthier, well balanced diet. [Still lost weight, but in a healthier way.]
Everyone is different, and I'm not qualified in any way, but I will share my story, in case it helps. (Apologise for length)
Since then, I've been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, which among other symptoms, also caused hair loss and extremely brittle nails. From personal experience my general health has improved, along with the health of my hair and nails, with me increasing my intake of both protein and fat. In addition (as recommend by my Doctor), I have also increased foods rich in Selenium into my diet. While also taking a daily Selenium supplement. This nutrient specifically helps healthy skin, nails and hair. A combination of more protein, fats and Selenium, taken on a daily basis has really helped the overall condition of my hair and nails.
which autoimune disease? I have been experiencing hair loss for over 4 years now. My specialist found no problems with my thyroid, vitamins except for Iron being a little on the lower side of normal.
It was either use a substance on my scalp that prevents hair loss but it is expensive and i have to use it for the rest of my life or just accept as is.
But i also have brittle nails so i am curious as to what it is and if this might be what i have.
Hair loss is totally related to biotin deficiency as per my doctor0 -
I have stress related alopecia (hair loss). So 3-4 times in the last 20 years I've developed circular bald spots. The first time was the worst and I was 18. It was like a reverse Mohawk and took like 20 minutes to do a combover ponytail. A dermatologist told me it was stress induced. The craziest thing is that I won't feel particularly stressed until my body is like f you, deal with your emotions. My hair has always grown back; but you still need to see a Dr, because there is more than 1 type and cause for alopecia.
I have seen a doctor still it will take some time and yes m still stressed out...:'(1 -

I haven't taken any medicines without consulting a doctor. The doctor asked me to change my diet for a while and focus on maintaining weoght rather than loosing more. The dr has prescribed me to take biotin supplement which is good for hair and nails n skin as well0 -

Thank you so much for the advice I have seen a doctor and he told me that people during diet often observe hairloss which is due to biotin deficiency vitamin b12 too. So I am taking biotin1 -

So taking a women's multivitamin is not an option? You could end up buying a lot of bottles and spending a lot of time figuring it out then.
Here is a list of what vitamin deficiencies can cause hair loss.
vitamin A
vitamin B6
vitamin B12
beta-carotene
biotin
vitamin C
calcium
vitamin D
inositol
iodine
iron
magnesium
niacin
pantothenic acid
selenium
zinc

Excellent! Now you have to try not to stress while letting the biotin and b12 work into your system. It's likely you won't see results for a few months yet, (your doctor likely gave you a better estimate).I know, easier said than done. To de-stress, I recommend petting an animal, if you like animals, playing a game, reading a book, or taking a bubble bath(these are my personal de-stressors-you probably have some of your own). Really, anything that lets your mind wander away from the problem for a while.1 -
You are the same height as me and my goal is 56kg at 1.59m, the middle of my BMI.
I would suggest that losing 1kg a month for a prolonged time at that height means very low cal diet and quite aggressive. Seems a case of malnutrition. Allow your body to heal. I would suggest maintenance for a while
Also personally 48 as a goal seems pretty low (BMI 18.5 if I am correct) Are you sure about that low a weight?1 -

@KiraChristiansen I do spend my time reading books and playing games. Also spend some of it watching seasons but you know hair are such an important part of you that loosing them stresses you out. You have been so kind and a sweetheart thanks for the guidance and showing so much care means a lot... :-) need some prayers so that I get better soon...:-)0 -

I am in maintainence phase now. High with the proteins and iron rich foods. So I am going to maintain this weight of 52 kg.
And I never starved my self so I dont think its malnutrition actually It might be because I am lactose intolerant I cannot have milk and smoothies. Also a little less inclined towards meat and beef.
I preferred chicken vegetables and pulses over meat and beef so this is where I lacked. Dr has not only asked me to take biotin but also to increase the intake of mutton and beef so that I get more protein from food.0
