I'm pretty sure people in general don't enjoy finding bugs in their food (unless bugs are among your culture's traditions- you do you)1

It's a Navel Orangeworm larvae.
They are the larvae of moths and don't contaminate the rest of the nuts if they get in one.

The Navel Orangeworm or Amyelois transitella is no laughing matter.
The navel orangeworm feeds on a variety of fruits and nuts and is the most damaging caterpillar in pistachio. Almonds, figs, pomegranates, and walnuts are also major hosts. The pistachio nut is susceptible to infestation as soon as hull split occurs. The first signs of an infestation are small, pinhole-size entrances into the nutmeat. As worms grow in size, the entire nut is fed upon and extensive amounts of webbing and frass (insect excrement) are present.
Navel orangeworm also damage pistachios by predisposing nuts to contamination by fungal organisms that produce aflatoxins.0 -
I think there's something wrong with your nuts.1

Please take a picture of your "Wonderful Pistachio" Bag. Including the #IC Code. Item code printed on the bag. Honestly looks like that worm is sitting on a piece of bacon. I do not see any pistachios in your picture. You need to call the number on the back of the package, and give them the item code.
Respectfully,
Past USDA raisin inspector.0 -
