too much of a calorie deficit?

According to most publications I find - I need to be eating about 2180 calories to maintain. I am currently eating 1400/day which is a deficit of 780. Is this deficit too large? its about 36% I think.
I am still 60lbs from goal, so I really don't want to be doing anything that can sabotage my loss.

Can you sustain it? If you feel too hungry, like it's going to make you freak out and binge, then maybe drop to a 500 calorie deficit.

It's about 1.5 pounds per week. I don't think that's too bad for now.

No. I find I am ok with the 1400/day.

I think if you can not over indulge and maintain the 1400 a day keep doing as long as you see weight loss. when you start to plateau you will have to change things up.

It's a little aggressive but not unreasonable. If you feel energetic and well, it should be fine.

The optimal calorie deficit is the one that you can sustain for the duration of your weight loss phase.
