Wanted to get thoughts on an issue that arose today,

Had a craving for an old comfort food today and went for it. Lamb / Chicken Shawarma It's fairly greasy meat and ate the restaurant's serving of it, probably 1.5 - 2.5 cups of the meat, israeli salad, and about 2 - 3 table spoons of humus. (skipped the bread / left most of the Humus).

However, based upon my research i'm estimating this is around 1k cal meal and I can FEEL it. Had two hard boil eggs for breakfast and was just thinking about eating some fruit in PM for dinn. I doubt i'll be hungry.

So the long and the short of it is, does it matter when throughout the day you get your calories in? (obviously, would rather have three meals, but skipping dinner seems ok if you slipped up)

Thoughts?

Doesn't matter when you eat your calories. The only downside to getting them all in early is potentially getting hungry again later in the day.

Timing matters not. If you're satisfied that's all that counts! If I'm eating out, I'll skip breakfast, eat a lighter lunch, and not munch throughout the day. The numbers matter, not the time.

There are other reasons - some people can't sleep if they eat too late, etc - but for the purposes of weight management, timing is irrelevant.

    Edit to correct poor grammar

Doesn't matter when you get the calories for the day. However, if you end up being hungry a bit later, you shouldn't beat yourself up if you have something more substantial than fruit for dinner. If that happens, oh well. Everyone has an off day now and again!

That being said, I have skipped dinner if I had a large lunch due to simply not being hungry. No sense in eating if you're not hungry.

No it doesn't matter when you get your calories in...

but if all you had was this lunch and a couple of boiled eggs and your estimate of 1,000 calories for lunch is correct then you've only consumed about 1,120 calories for the day...your profile says you are male, and that's way too low for a male. Not a big deal once in awhile, but not a good thing if you're regularly taking in so few calories.

1,500 calories per day is really the minimum for a male who is sedentary. You have plenty of room for dinner.
