adding bike towing

SO i have found my favorite work out to do with my kids. We go for a bike ride!!! But i cant figure out how to log it. i can log the ride its self but i cant figure out what i should do to allot for the added 80lbs between the carriage and both kids. and ideas?

    I would consider the towing a bonus.

    Are you going for six hour rides, or just an hour or so? Unless it's hilly, you're not burning that much more. Add on 50 calories and call it good.

    sounds good. i havent been adding any and just letting it bank as extra calories. i was just curious if anyone had any thoughts

    Riding on hard packed dirt burns about 50% more calories than pavement, for the same speed. I haven't towed anything so I can't say much but it seems like it would be a lot more work.

    it is. it is about twice as hard and wears me out twice as fast but i dont want to over estimate the calories it burns

    80lbs plus the drag from another pair of tyres is significant, they are hard work - if you are using the MFP calorie estimates (which tend to be very high for road bike use) then towing might make them more realistic.
