I am really needing some words of wisdom and wanting to know peoples opinion on having a fitness buddy? I have tried this so many times on my own I am wondering if the key to success is having someone I can walk the journey with. I've thought about it before but being married and having 4 children I never really thought I could find someone who I could be compatible with. Now that two of my children are in college another is a senior in h.s. and a one in 5th grade I think I will have more time to dedicate to working with someone to achieve similar fitness goals! My husband really isn't the one to do this with he has never had a weight problem and is in great shape it's hard for him to relate to where I'm coming from and quite frankly he just frustrates me sometimes... I so badly want to make changes for good this time!! Any help would be much appreciated!

I don't have anyone in real life to help motivate me on this fitness journey. But, I have found so much encouragement and support here on mfp. Make friends with other users and support each other.1 -
A buddy is good. Also, figure out your "why." To be successful, a goal should be more than a number. Maybe enlist your kids that are at home. Throw a frisbee with them, walk the dog togethet, etc. If one plays a sport, walk or jog during their practice. But eating habits are key. I hate to use the word diet.0

I have my fiance to work with on my goals. He's my gym buddy and we push each other in all aspects, lifting, eating, cardio etc.
I always used to focus on losing weight and needing to eat less and do loads of cardio buy my mindset finally changed and now I'm training to be a bodybuilder alongside my fiance. I don't often train with him but even just speaking to him helps. The piece of advise I'd give on having a fitness buddy is not to rely on them working out for you to, I've had people want to train with me before but they quite easily back out as it's not as important to them. Make sure their lack of commitment doesn't effect your commitment, make sure you train even if they don't and get in a mindset where you're doing this for you and nobody else.
In the words of one of my idols 'my goals are important to me, I can either reach for the cake because it smells so good and is in sight, or I can refrain and focus on my end goal because that's what is important to me'.
Hope that helps, you can do this!0 -
I also don't have anyone to motivate me in real life. My husband encourages and supports me. But for the most part I'm in it alone. That's why I enjoy FP . If you can find someone in your life to go on this journey with i definitely think it would be helpful. I am also a mom , but of 3 . One in college , other a senior, and one little one. So I understand how we give our lives to our kids, and now we are getting alittle of it back. Good luck!0
