IIFYM

I'm very curious, who follows this way of eating? Did it freak you out when you learned how many calories & carbs you got to eat?

nope - I've been doing a variation on IIFYM for about a year now; more focused the last 9 months - I'm down 12lbs and mostly focusing on recomp now - I aim for 80/20 (80% whole foods, 20% fun foods but there are other days where its more like 20/80)0

I do but i'm not sure how IIFYM is different to MFP to be honest.... Except you put focus on macros more specifically (and probably unnecessarily for most people)1

Why would IIFYM change the number of calories I got to eat? and my macros are set to lower carbs than the standard MFP settings. The whole point is that you set your macros to reflect your goals, then eat to those macros.5

There's no magic to IIFYM, it's just stating that you can eat what you like as long as you stay within your calorie target and get close to your macro ranges. Aside from some basic minimums for protein and fats, you can do what you feel is best based on what makes you feel best and suits your needs.
IIFYM is simply an answer to the age old question "can I eat <insert food item here> and <lose weight/gain muscle/run longer/other goal>". The answer is always "Yes, if it fits your macros".1 -
I've always done IIFYM (even when I experimented with keto I considered it IIFYM because I know how thermodynamics and calories work so those were my temporary macros for a week lol)
I also don't see how it's different than MFP other than it usually calls for more protein which is a good thing. I guess because MFP you add exercise cals vs estimating your TDEE with IIFYM it differs there too but I mean, if you're tracking calories and macros you're pretty much doing IIFYM0
