wedding fashion tip
I need some advice from my pals on here, I am going to a wedding in October and need to get a new suit, so I would like some advice on colour of the suit I should choose for the occasion.
Its going to be a big wedding, about 500 people, so I want to create a good impression.
For background info, I am in Australia, male and 42....so need to dress appropriate for my age I would suggest
Any tips welcome as I have plenty of time to get new suit ordered.
Cheers

I'm not a guy so I can't offer too much advice on actually buying one, but maybe a woman's perspective is helpful. Personally, I'm a fan of guys in solid dark grey suits. The color looks good on everyone and matches well with almost any color you could want to pair with it. It looks sharp because it's still nice and fairly conservative in color but it's a bit different than the usual black suit - plus you can make it stand out more or less based on what color you pair with it since it's versatile. It also works pretty well with both black and brown shoes. If you're partly buying to wear as a wedding guest though see if you can find out what the men in the wedding will be wearing so you can avoid any awkward matching.
Here's an example of the color I mean and some eye candy for other ladies :

I don't really have any great advice to offer you, but my husband owns about 8 suits for business. My absolute favorite is a 3 piece, light to medium grey color with a light purple lining (and light purple on the back of the vest.) It sounds a bit girly, but it is dead sexy!
Black works too.0 -
I would go with a gray two button suit. You can add color with your shirt and tie. Remember, NEVER, EVER, EVER button up the bottom button.

I was going to say gray! I think it's such a great color because it looks great in all seasons, is a neutral so adding color (as was said) is easy, and it's still modern enough to keep you looking sharp without being too trendy. It'll last you for years. I'm not sure if you're white or native, but these are my opinions on shirt and tie colors. On a white guy with pale coloring I love the blues, a white guy with darker coloring looks great in the reds, even darker skin tones look amazing in purples. Have fun at the wedding!0 -
I suit up daily. Gray or navy, unless its an evening formal wedding then black would suffice. Go with a 2 button solid suit, and pay for an excellent tailor for alterations. Personally I'd say to go with Navy with brown belt and shoes. This is a great classic look that will set you apart. Go with a solid shirt, then ties to splash color. If you want flair add a hint of a coordinated (but not matched) pocket square. If you'd like some recommendation on suits, PM me...HUGE difference in quality out there from fused all the way to fully canvassed.0

can't go wrong with the grey mentioned (don't go too light). get it in a light wool you can wear year-round. single-breasted. basically get that suit in the picture.
on certain people, navy can look really sharp too, but that mid-tone grey is amazing on pretty much everyone.0 -
I am wondering if I'm just super picky or what? I don't find that man attractive in the least. Anyone else, or am I all alone on this one?
Oh, and we'll need a pic of the suit you choose! :-)
Also, I'd have to say that a good impression is generally more about the way you carry yourself and how you treat others than how expensive your suit is. ;-)0 -
