@Motorsheen I love the bombardment of awesome book recommendations!0

I do like to read. I like to read fiction. I like to read non-fiction. I like to read biographies and histories. What I don't like to read is poorly written, poorly edited, poorly auto-corrected stuff. Consequently, modern publications have put me off of reading modern publications.2

one of my favorite recent reads has been the sympathizer. literally felt things i didn't know i was capable of feeling reading that. been meaning to buy it in hardcover and add it to my collection.
one of the most disappointing recent reads has been the goldfinch. ugh just ugh. i mean i get the whole bildungsroman thing but the last bit literally ruined the whole book for me.
a great recent non-fiction read has been black flags. captivating narrative as always by joby warrick. and this is coming from somebody who usually refuses to read non-fiction.2 -
Surprised I have seen some of my favorites in here yet.
One book I did NOT put down was
The Art of Racing in the Rain - Garth Stein *Tear jerker fyi*
A few of my other favs
Gone Girl - Gillian Flynn - Blows the movie out of the water and I thought the movie was phenomenal
Shawshank Redemption - Stephen King
The Kite Runner - Khaled Hosseini
1984 - George Orwell

supposedly its got a bit of that movie Event Horizon to it. premise sounds interesting at least.
i've been reading this guy's stuff lately though:
really really good. quick and easy to read, but lots of twists and turns. kind of sci-fi with a Lovecraftian twist.
I just ordered "14"
it sounds pretty cool.1 -

I've read these biographys. My favorite one is Mick Fleetwood, because I met him, and he signed my book, complete with his signature smile face.1
