Protein doesn't cause weight loss, a calorie deficit causes weight loss. Protein can help you retain muscle while you lose weight. That being said the suggestions for protein intake while losing weight is around .8-1 gram of protein per pound of lean body mass.

This. Protein also helps keep me feeling full

My dad has got me on a high protein diet, its not for losing weight its to help me keep retain my muscle so im not losing it as i lose the weight. I weightlift as well as exercise, but saying that protein is great for keeping you fuller, i eat 5 meals a day (300g of chicken) per day, along with boiled eggs, pasta etc. All weighed, i always feel full, somedays im forcing myself to eat lol!
have lost 10lbs in 4 weeks so far :)
