Could it be my TOM?

I started dieting and exercise 2 weeks ago and I mean like I've gone hard at it. Every single day I work out such as running, long speed walk of 5 or so miles, etc. I've been keeping track of my calories and staying below my daily budget, I only slipped up one day thus far. My period begins in 3 days and yesterday was weigh in. And not only did I not lose a single pound (which is crazy with how hard I've pushed myself) but I gained weight. Then I proceeded to re measure myself and compare the measurements from my starting ones and I didn't lose any inches but gained!! I'm so heartbroken. What could this be? I'm so lost. I don't know what could be the problem.

Did you just start the exercise program? You could be retaining water from that, in addition to premenstrual water retention. Weigh yourself every day for the next two weeks so you will catch that post-menstrual whoosh.

Weighing every day can help you get over the inevitable water weight fluctuations.

Women can gain between 2-10 lbs during the last phase of their menstrual cycle. Some people recommend skipping the weight-in before your period if it fails within that 5 day period before your period. Not everyone has this gain, but hormones are evil, and cause increase water weight, breasts getting a little more dense for a few days... All part of being a women.

It could also but other things as well - increase in activity, sometimes leads to more retention, it could be your body adjusting. Keep going, don't focus so much on 1 gain, but be curious if you stay the same weight for say a month.
