Generally yes speak to your doctor. If you are obese it should be safe to lose weight but by lose weight I dont mean at a 1200 calorie deficit.
But generally you should be at maintenance + exercise(ask your doctor) then at the second trimester calories should be raised up to 150 calories and again in the 3rd.

I asked this not long back too!
    How far along are you.
I'm still in the first 12 weeks.
I was eating 1200 but started pigging out when I got my positive test

I forgot to ask my midwife at the first appt so need to ask again but I think it's Atleast maintenance depending on your current weight ect.
But best to check with your healthcare professional.

People aren't very helpful wth the pregnancy side of things on here..

Probably because we aren't ob/gyns just some fat people on the internet.

So you can all remember your weight loss experiences but not pregnancy experiences?

Has no one ever been pregnant on here?
I'm not asking for hard solid "facts", just people's experiences of being pregnant and using MFP.

I have the answer but you have to sign back in to get it. It's a great answer, too.
