Did 10hour kayaking yesterday, can I do cardio today if my body feels sore?

So yesterday I went paddling for about 10 hours. My arm muscles feel super sore today. Some people say if your body feels sore it's better to give it a day off to recover. But I like exercising every day. So I would skip strength workout and do cardio. Will my body react okay to this? Or should I just rest today and start working out again tomorrow? Cardio = stationary bike.

So do something that is more leg-focused, like running or walking or an elliptical.

*ets: Oh, or maybe I should read the whole post...how about stationary bike?

if you like working out, then work out. There are no rules to anything. The only time its important to rest is if you are tired or if you have specific training goals that require rest. Otherwise if your goal is to enjoy your day, then do your daily workouts and enjoy life.

I'd be inclined to think that riding should be fine, you'll be working your legs & glutes whereas the kayaking is upper body. 10hrs is quite the paddle!

No need to rest your legs because your arms are tired :)

Joking apart, I know your legs are probably pretty stiff too, but they weren't doing the bulk of the work, more cramping up in an awkward position, so I imagine a bit of pedalling might make them feel better rather than worse.

As others have said, leg stuff (inc stationary bike) would probably help you loosen up a bit. A 10 hour paddle is quite the day, no wonder your arms are tired!
