Trying to gain 30lbs, I'm currently around 120lbs. I understand I have to eat more, ccorie surplus... is it necessary to do weight lifting at the same time or can I gain and then lift?

If you just eat, you won't add much muscle. If you lift and eat the right things in a surplus, you will maximize lean gains.
I think it would be worth your $50 to check out someone like duncanlukas on Instagram and buy a bulking program from him.0 -
Calorie surplus + no weightlifting = pure fat gains2

Your glucose and protein has to go somewhere, if it does not go into your muscle it will be oxidized and used as energy or sent into fat stores.1 -
Why would you think gaining and then lifting would be a good idea?0
