I've hurt myself at the gym just when I was getting started.
What low impact exercise can I do to speed up weight loss

Water aerobics - or anything in the water is often good for low impact
All you need for weight loss is a calorie deficit - no exercise is actually required1 -
Weight loss is based on how much you eat, so focus on that. If you can, walking and swimming are about as low impact as you can get.1

No info on your stats?
What kind of injury?
What workouts you like to do?
...so vague3 -
I irritated a disc squating with weights
I am 43 and need to shed 20 kilos.
I love high energy exercise like dancing or step but can't do these now. I need to build core strength which is why I am focusing on weights0 -

Yoga.
Great for balance and great for core.
Also very difficult and will actually help with the back.
Basic resistance training can help with the core.
Also if you have good arm strength. Hanging can be good for your back0 -
The first thing is I hope you saw your doctor. Please whatever you do don't take advice from people on this or any other app or website. Even though they may be giving what they think is good advice they can tell you to do something and you'll really mess yourself up even more especially your back.
Here's the simple truth to lose weight it's a matter of eating less calories then your body Burns daily. Simple cico. Remember you didn't gain all that weight fast and for a healthy sustainable Journey you can't lose it fast either.
Without knowing your stats set your goal to 1 to 2 lbs per week.

Should I be eating the calories MFP suggests because a nutritionist told me the calorie goal on MFP was too low?0
-
MFP has your calorie goal set without exercise. So right now with your injury, and not exercising eat at your MFP goal.
When you get back to your exercise start eating your exercise calories back.
Your trainer probably thought they were low because TDEE includes exercise; MFP's NEAT does not.
Talk to your doctor before exercising.

Go to YouTube and search low impact cardio. I have a foot injury and I've been exploring these options. Body project has some awesome boxing workouts. But that might irritate your back. Good luck0

When I have back problems, walking is about all I can manage. Weights were dangerous (I tried and failed). But I've also lost weight by just focussing on my diet. Work on your fitness after your back has healed.0 -

I'm a certified yoga teacher. While the OP is injured she shouldn't do yoga more challenging than beginner/gentle yoga. Yoga can hurt as well as heal.
But it can indeed be fabulous for core strength!
