All of the food journal suggestions are ridiculous. Some even saying 100cal per 1tbs (so 300 cal). Other external websites say 28cal per tbs. I really don't know whats right and wrong and since there's such a huge difference between those two numbers id like to get it clarified, please.
So any bakers out there, please help!

Weigh it instead of using tablespoons and use the usda entry. Thats what i do.4

^that^ For instance, https://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/foods/show/201883?manu=&fgcd=&ds= is the search for a locally popular brand of self-rising flour.
Since 'cups' are essentially meaningless, use grams. Use a scale to get grams.
If you must convert cups to grams or vice versa, use www.convertunits.com1 -
Gold Medal, 0.25 Cup, 100 calories
King Arthur Self-Rising Flour, 0.25 Cup, 100 calories
Pillsbury Best, 0.25 cup, 100 calories
1/4 cup = 4 TBL - so 75 calories.
From Bon Appetit A cup of flour measured in volume, for example, can vary as much as five ounces—an amount that can mean the difference between buttery and flaky—and dense and cakey.0 -
Thanks guys! I appreciate all the answers, you guys are great.0

Don't forget that even an accurate estimate for the brand is just an estimate. By law, estimates can be off by several percentage points.0

Weight is a far better measure for flour, it varies massively in how tightly packed it can be.0
