Maintenance calories are different for every person. The 1200 calorie recommendation is the minimum that anyone should eat, ever, just to do daily basic functions.0

You can look online for a TDEE calculator and it can tell you what your maintenance calories are for your height and weight.

Set your goal to maintenance and it will tell you. To lose 2 pounds a week, you would need a deficit of 1000 calories below maintenance. However, MFP will not set any female below 1200 calories, so you would not be able to reach that size of a deficit. You'll be better off aiming for 1 pound a week.0

Height in cm x 12 is a good place to start for your maintenance calories. Make adjustments as needed.0
