I was always into sports before the accident which caused serious damage to my lower back.
It's been 8 years now.
How do I get fit, lose weight when I have severe pain and reduced mobility

I think you should check with your doc or a physio therapist what kind of exercises you can do and how to build up muscle'in the'injured area .
If you eat less than what you burn you should loose even with a lifestyle that does not include much sport at this point.1 -
Losing weight just means consuming less calories than you burn. If you can't exercise, then you have to eat less than you used when you did.
You don't NEED to exercise to lose weight. As for your pain and mobility, you'd likely need to see a specialist to help you regain some of it.
