Hi everyone. I started working 3rd shift as a CNA about a year ago. I've noticed that since I started working this shift I'm always munchie and I crave sweets a lot more. One of my biggest downfalls is rock stars, I drink 2 or 3 per day. Does anyone have advice about cutting sugar and junk food cravings and a better way to cut fatigue besides energy drinks!?! I watch my son during the day so I'm lucky to get 3-4 hours of sleep. I feel like my body is starting to break down. Any help is appreciated. Thank you:-)

I don't have any answers for you, but I'm commenting because I am a CNA as well! Well, I will be (I haven't started my job yet, I have orientation soon). I work rotating shifts, which I'm sure will include plenty of night shifts and I know I will get sleepy and munchie. I would love to benefit from the tips :p

How many nights a week do you do this? :grey_question: For your sake and for your son's sake, you need more sleep.
Sleepiness often causes people to feel like eating.

well first off you need to switch to the sugar free energy drinks if you can't find an alternative to them as a whole. that's huge right there. I drink them and I find that my problem with them is that they don't ever quench your thirst so in turn you get the munchies because it's a vicious cycle lol I've been struggling with this for years. *Military and energy drinks are about as common as guns in the military haha.

You're also going to have to find time to take little cat naps, even if your lay down when your son lays down (if he's still napping) or try to catch naps here and there. 3rd shift isn't for everyone and it definitely takes a toll on your body. Sorry for my rambling! Good luck!!!
