It's not a Weight, It's a Wall

First, I'm just venting. I don't want words of wisdom. Maybe some sympathy. Definitely "I've been there" stories!
130 is my nemesis. Sorry if that seems petty. Maybe it is. Following a major weight control effort after quitting smoking 10 years ago, I leveled out at 123. Stayed there for ages. Until maybe a year ago. I'd even stopped stepping on a scale. Then my pants started getting too tight. What can I say, a knee injury put an end to my running habit but not my wine habit. In about January, I got serious. Not serious enough to log food, but serious enough to step on a scale. 135-ish. Yikes! I cut the wine. The weight went down to maybe 131. I SO wanted to see the 120's. Then vacation happened. And I never really got back on the wagon until a month ago. When I got the nerve to face the damned scale again. 137. OK, log time. Now I have a 32 day streak going here on MFP. But that is just background. Here is the point.
After weeks of hard work I saw the scale go to 132.2. Then 131.4. Then 130.8.... now I'm excited and eagerly getting up to get weighed every morning. 130.6.... 130.4.... 130.2.... Today's the day it's going to happen!!! I'm sure to carry on the pattern to 130.0 or maybe... (gasp)... dare I hope?... 129.9!
I woke at 4 am. (I kid you not. I'm exhausted here.) Stripped off the nightshirt. Stepped on the scale. 132.6.
Say WHAT?!?! I came in under calories last night! There was no alcohol involved! I've been good!
Yes yes, I know that ups and downs happen, but this just isn't fair.
(BTW, for anyone who needs proof that scales are lying pieces of worm poop, I went back to bed for a while and stepped on it an hour later - 130.6. Piece of.... Grrrr.)

The "mistake" you made at 4 am was probably just getting out of the nighties, but not on the toilet. The scale did not necessarily lie. Also, my scale works "better" on different pieces of the floor. Yeah. So I try to put it in the exact same spot all the time. Aligned between the wardrobe and bed, in the morning, naked, after bathroom, before drinking water. And still sometimes it fluctuates from whatever. Maybe you lost water weight in the first weeks and now you are at the real thing and need more deficit to actually get down.1
