It's very common to lose a lot of weight when you make big changes to your diet. Some of it is water weight. As you continue, your weight loss should become more stable. If you continue to lose ten pounds a week consistently, you probably will want to eat more. But for now, enjoy -- it's perfectly normal!6

It's normal to lose quite a bit in the first couple weeks, a lot of it is water - especially if you have drastically changed your food choices and intake. Keep it going - it won't always be that much though. So don't get discouraged if/when it slows down this week or even stalls.2

I like that you said lifestyle change and not diet........right there you're starting off on the right foot. Enjoy the initial loss for now, it will slow up but don't worry that's normal. Good luck to you2

Congratulations!
Re: the large first week loss, I would confirm that your logging is accurate and your targets make sense (drastically undereating can be almost as bad as overeating) but otherwise it could have been a number of factors - water weight, when you weighed yourself, scale variation, etc. 10.4 pounds for that short a time is such a massive number that it's more likely than not driven by something not related to your actual fat loss.
Keep at it and you should see the results moderate provided that you don't need to change anything in your targets or intake. By the same token, don't feel discouraged if you see the weight go back up next week since your week 1 loss is probably a bit of an anomaly. Keep your mind focused on the long-term and celebrate incremental wins as they come!0 -
Thanks, I know it's fast at first, I hope it keeps up like this for the next 3 weeks lol my birthday is the 19th and I would love to be in the 250's when I hit another year older lol3

Yes, much of it is likely to have been water this first week but don't let that discourage you when your weight goes up or down a bit with water over your continued journey. Weight loss is not linear. It bounces up and down but like a ball bouncing down a flight of stairs, as long as you keep to your calorie limits your weight will go down over the long haul. Also, don't be afraid to adjust what you have done in your first week to do what works long term. This needs to work for you. Best wishes on your journey. There are many of us here with a lot of weight to lose.2

The more someone weighs the more they will tend to lose in the first weeks of a diet change. 10 pounds is awesome! I lost 5 last week and feel good about that but I will count on losing .5-1 lb a week from here on out.1

That's awesome. Yes it's normal to loose a lot the first couple weeks. Just dnt get discouraged when you dnt loose for a week. It will come off. You can add me if you'd like.1

That's a great analogy.2
