Hello, everyone. Ihave become interested in the Keto diet, since I have seen so many people have great success with it. I am currently on a 1200 meal plan, since I put down im quite sedentary. But come to think of it I walk a few times a week,do light housework and run around two toddlers. But still I have decided ti stay with this meal plan since eating isn't really my issue, its getting mobile. Anyway, falling off topic.I am interested in a Vegetarian Keto diet, but honestly don't know how to start,am afraid of the fats, and fear the loss of not eating as much fruit as I like. And also can I substitute Vegetarian meat products instead of lean meets. Like Morning Star or Quorn brand. Is anyone else here a vegetarian (dairy, eggs, and cheese sparingly) and how has it been for you.Is there enough to eat on the list? Any help or advice would be great. Thank you!

The Low Carber Daily MFP group has vegetarian and vegan links in their stickies. Perhaps join them for more info.
Try not to fear the fat. The only bad fats are trans fats and too many vegetable oils, or rancid oils.2 -
Thank you for the heads up on that group0

The meat substitutes you mentioned are full of carbs. I think it's going to be pretty difficult to do any form of keto successfully without meat.3

Why not stick with your current meal plan that works and focus on adding more activity?4

I've lost weight eating carbs. If you can't do Keto, keep in mind that it's all about calories and you can switch eating habits. Just don't give up.
A calorie is a calorie is a calorie. Does not matter what you eat when it comes to losing weight. Some diets are hard to follow for the long term. The best diet is the one that you can do for life.2 -
It sounds very difficult to combine Vegetarian and Keto, as they are two opposite diets; what's allowed and encouraged in the other is typically banned from the other, and vice versa.
The "success" you see mainly comes from the initial water weight loss, that almost everybody get from reducing food intake - as carbohydrate binds water, water weight drops too. Real success in weight loss comes from consistently eating less than you burn, for a long time. This can be done in a number of ways, bet because it has to be done for a long time, it's important that you can and will and do stick to it.
I would recommend getting in a good, balanced diet, and work on your food fear. Fat isn't dangerous, fruit isn't dangerous, substitute products can never be the real deal. A varied diet is good for you, it makes you healthy and makes you feel good, so it's important no matter what diet you choose.2 -
I think after reading all this advice, I will do what you guys say and exactly what I thought yesterday, I need to do what I can do long term!! I looove fruit! It would be very hard to give that up. And it is quite easy to stay under the 1200 calories for me,sometimes I have trouble reaching even that, but yes ,I need to incorporate more exercise!! Thank you so much for all the feedback!0
