That's right-I did read that. Maybe she can tell the programmers......

And this is why we can’t have nice things

The commutative property of math is why a% of b = b% of a.
"%" implicity means " times 1/100". Thus "a% times b" becomes "a times 1/100 times b". It's the same forward, backward, sideways. It doesn't matter if you do "1/100 times a times b" or "a times b times 1/100". You can do "b times a times 1/100" just as easily. We learned this in 3rd grade.0 -

3rd grade? Was my math classes just dumb or were yours advanced? Cause in third grade we didn’t start throwing letters into our maths. Not when we were 7-8 years old.
But I am also unclear why this is interesting. Am I missing something? Cause can’t you take any numbers and times and divide them in any order for the same result?
That’s why arguements happen when people post questions like 1+1+1*0=?? Cause some people go left to right and others follow pedmas1 -

I do get that, not piling up buffet food just because it's "all you can eat", but wasting food or not doesn't help starving countries. So I think the comparison they're drawing doesn't really make sense even though their request to not waste food does.
They just want to save money by having people not eat as much or throw away a ton of food. It's a guilt trip. I would probably take a plate, and after filling it, directly walk over to the trash can and dump it in. I hate that kind of passive aggressive *kitten*.2 -

I’ve seen plates almost completely full of perfectly good food being thrown away, almost like the person took a few bites then didn’t feel like finishing. Why pile up a plate, then? Maybe it’s this buffet mentality of “I’m gonna get my money’s worth out of this buffet.”

Yep. I tried using this on my kids. I have some smart(*kitten*) kids.
Me: don't waste your food. Please eat it.
Them: No! I don't like it
Me: There are starving children that would give anything to eat this right now
Them: So send it to them!

I used a version of that last week.
Me: Finish your beer before we go. Don't waste it.
Him: But it's getting warm.
Me: There are sober people in China that would love to have a beer.
